Super Mario Room

For some reason (I assume it had everything to do with copyrights), Super Mario Brothers never made it to my Commodore 64. Instead, I played a knock-off game called The Great Giana Sisters, which Wikipedia says was pulled because it was too similar. Ha, learn something new every day.

Anyway, growing up with the Sisters, I still hoped to one day play the real thing. When I finally did, I was in my twenties, and video games were much cooler.

So I never got into the Mario Brothers, but I have to appreciate this room design I found here, and think that if a kid or an adult ends up living in this room, they must be very happy.

Russell's Teapot

All the BS: Russell's Teapot
Thank you, Russell's Teapot, for giving all of us who refuse to learn to draw (not that we could) a reason to believe we can make profound art and comics on the internet.

Of course, most of us will fail miserably because we'll think it's so easy, like a Creative Writing student who thinks imitating Kerouac is all you need to know to write a book. But still, thanks for giving us hope.

And I wish you came back. Why is it that as soon as something becomes popular on the internet, the creators move on?

Internet!

No more direct social interaction. Ever.

We all order some things online, and many times it's because it's so easy and painless. You click a few buttons and receive the item in the next business week.

Pleased with yourself, you go to the store to buy a bottle of whiskey. Or a pack of cigarettes. Or one of those magazines you hide when you have company. Or some eggs, just on case.

But now you actually have to talk to someone! Maybe even run the risk of touching the store clerks when they give you the change! The horror!

Well, in Tokyo the rise of the machines takes care of that.

So we can get along after all?

Less than a month to go before the elections, and it's easy to give in to hate. Palin accuses Obama of being friendly with terrorists, and people in the crowd shout, "Kill him." What did McCain mean when he said, "That one"?

Now, I don't think racism will end when the campaign ends and Obama is elected, but at least the blatant reference to Obama as "an other" will disappear from the main stream media and get back to the places they belong, the obscure regions of the internet.

Until then, here's a video that will remind us we can in fact get along.

That's how she became mayor of Wasilla?
