CTRL + SHIFT + P

Keyboard shortcut

Is it just me, or is the CTRL+SHIFT+P combination on Firefox 3.5 the perviest thing on the internet?

(Of course I only use it for its intended purpose: to shop around for surprise gifts for my wife).

huh - never knew about this. I have to say when I tried it I thought maybe the P stood for porn so I was worried about what was about to pop up, or whatever. But, I can see where this little gem would be useful. For surprise gifts, as you say.

Drowsey, Firefox really tapped into the needs of the people. We're all gift-givers deep inside.

Kathy, it's a new thing because Firefox 3.5 is relatively new. But the kind of people who need to go under the radar caught on quickly. In my defense, I saw it mentioned elsewhere. And in my defense, -- well, I've run out of defenses.

The Guy, thanks. And just in case your wife comes in the room when she's not expected, and you want to quickly hide the 1800flowers.com page you were on, press the same combination again, and it takes you back to your non-private page. (And I'm with you. When it crashes on Earth we'll call it a meteor. Until then, it's one of us!)

[CTRL] + [SHIFT] + P is pure genius. I was not aware of it until I read this post. I really don't need it tough, because I believe that a man and his lady should should shop for online presents together. Yep.

brilliant. thanks for this enlightening post. haha

Rate Watcher, glad I could help. A family that shops together stays together. But I bet it could be used for other things too. I can't think of anything right now.

William, you know... they have it on the latest version of Firefox. But do macs use Firefox, or is it all Safari? I'm sorry but I don't know.

Clarrise, thank you! Now don't abuse this thing. Use it only to buy surprise presents.

regarding the microsoft ad in Poland and that country's absence of a legacy of slavery, perhaps a Hasidic Jew should be put in the middle photo. what do you think? a pretty nice contrast to the contemporary man and woman. history is open to interpretation, but some historical facts are so prominent that they have influenced the world we live in today. black slavery in the usa, anti-semitism in europe, especially central and eastern parts. has poland become enlightened about their former 'minority group'? just wondering.

Sal, it's funny, but it's also true. On the other hand, it's not just Poland. Frankly you don't see Hasidic Jews selling anything in the US too. They're used as jokes by bad imitators, but God forbid they actually portrayed as normal people who use a computer.

Google Chrome has one more obvious. It's in their settings tab and its called "incognito mode"

Firefox doesn't advertize theirs as much.

Anon., I haven't gotten into Chrome yet. My life is complicated enough, you know? But I'll do it eventually. Because dudes love shiny new things. And when I do, it's good to know I can use it to buy surprise presents for my wife!

Well now, I will tell you about surprises for your wife. I was browsing in the ctrl-shift-p mode and got interrupted, so to speak, and so pressed the same combination of keys to end my session. Only I didn't - I must have pressed ctrl-p instead. Yes folks: that is print ! My printer was not connected so I didn't notice. It was only when my wife printed her shopping list, or whatever, several days later that all my secret shopping surprises (NOT!) were revealed. Careful, lads!

(Those people at mozilla must think this is genius!)

Man... That's funny.

ctrl+shift+p also works on Internet Explorer and it's ctr+shift+n in Google Chrome

good thing wives are now smart enough to get stealth mode keystroke tracking.

where does it say that buying surprise gifts for your wife is the intended purpose. The purpose of that feature is to browse the internet privatly (for a whatever intents and purposes that maybe).
