You know how you talk to someone and you say, "I wish I was [something]." And there's always the guy, you know, THAT guy, who will jump in the middle of the conversation and say, "WERE. I wish I were."
Well, I'm not proud of myself. It's not something I can control, you see? Most of us have just been programmed to correct. And I'm even not that good at grammar or at spelling. In fact, there are probably a few mistakes in this post. But when I do know something I have to jump up and correct the mistake. Forgive me. I am THAT guy.
Taking it up a notch is this blog, The Copy Edits of J. Alfred Proofreader.
Now, some people might get annoyed by stuff like that. They might ask, "With all the troubles in the world you think anyone cares about a typo in the New York Times?" But I'm just happy to see a yellow highlight over this sentence from the NYT:
Why pick and chose who gets the center square stockade?Or the New York Post writing that Conan fans wont be disappointed.
And also some misspelled articles in smaller magazines, a few ads, and even street signs.
What can I say? For a sick man like me, this is heven.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
'heven' - LOL!
Grammar is important and correcting the mistakes of others is equally important because it shows that we care.
Hebben you head enuf?
Oh, Papa, I don't know. I think I've made thousands of people mad with my insistence that there should be no WILL after IF.
Doctor, naver!
Grammer? is that like that crazee eubonicks thing?
Madman, it's definitely overrated. Grammar just comes in your way of condensing an update into 140 characters for Twitter.
I do the same thing but especially for typos in printed items. For example, if someone says "look at this message I wrote to Dave" and it has typos and grammatical miscues, I will say something like "oh, so you're saying you would choose-oops-gotta add another o. Can I do that? It's a draft right? And then there's just one r for this word." I know-it's terrible! I am OCD about that kind of stuff!
Ahh .. well, I am a fan of typos as long as they're spaced out evenly and do not override an article or piece. But, for the professional writers, typos are like, the Cardinal Sin.
But for bloggers? Too many typos ain't cool, dude. And I s'pose that often, people who focus too much on typos just might be a little bit OCD, but then again, a little OCD never really hurt anyone, least of all 'dem FDA-approved drug makers that sell little pills that make people more anxious than ever before.
*shrugs*
Micgar, I know what you mean. My wife never asks me for help anymore. There were a few too many, "Yes yes, I haven't spell checked yet. I'm asking you to reread the content. Don't worry about the spelling. Oh, never mind."
Paotie, I understand what you're saying, but still, just because it's a blog doesn't mean the word "I" should not be a capital letter, you know? I see people do that on Twitter, and it's... You know they're not saving space by using "i" instead.
