I'm not buying this whole optical illusion thing. Just because you're telling me these two red lines on the wall are the same length I'm supposed to believe that? Sure, it can be proven by simply and roughly measuring the lines, but I still won't believe it.

Actually these two lines are the same length... I did quick cut&paste in MS-Paint, and they proved to be exactly the same length... I updloaded the picture with the cut piece next to the other line, you can have a look at it is you want?
